Biography
AUGUST KB is a true multi-hyphenate creative. He has an MFA in Film & Television Production from the University of Southern California and is a Senior Production Coordinator for Content at RIOT Games. He is the co-founder of Auster Animation, an indie 2D-animation worker’s cooperative.
He worked as a Production Coordinator for INVINCIBLE and was the Production Coordinator for THE WALKING DEAD: LAST MILE. He also produced an animated short for Apple TV’s YO GABBA GABBALAND! He is the Creative Producer for HOME, a Pixar-styled 3D animation which won the Best Jury Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival. He also produced THE DIVERSITY HIRES, a podcast about screenwriting from a Black perspective.
As a writer/director, August explores race, religion and identity through several genres, most typically science fiction, fantasy and comedy. His aim as a storyteller is to share stories that are provocative, poetic and palatable, all in the pursuit of positive social change. His mockumentary, BEETS, was a finalist in the Portland Comedy Film Festival and the NŌT Film Fest in Italy.
August has been the Composer and the Music Supervisor for several films and commercials including SAFARI PARTY, THE CYPHER, SEPARATED and many more. He supervised and composed for THE DOPE YEARS: THE UNTOLD STORY OF LATASHA HARLINS, a documentary about the life and death of Latasha Harlins, which went on to win Silver at the 49th Annual Student Academy Awards in the Documentary Category.
August attended Oakwood University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Biology. In his free time, August enjoys writing poetry and producing music. His debut single will be releasing in February under the artist moniker, August Bloom.
